Java Developer

We're currently searching for a Java Developer to strengthen our engineering team. The right candidate for this position brings hands-on, dependable knowledge of Java backend development, combined with comfort working with Spring Boot, RESTful services, microservices architecture, and relational databases. We're looking for an individual who can operate independently, quickly grasp existing codebases, contribute meaningfully to technical decision-making, and collaborate effectively within a varied engineering environment. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain backend services implemented in Java Build out and enhance REST APIs that drive mobile application capabilities and enable integration with external systems Manage MySQL-related work including data model design, query creation and optimization, and troubleshooting database issues Help define and advance the architecture of backend systems and microservices built with scalability and maintainability in mind Produce reliable, secure, and well-tested code following established software engineering standards Identify and resolve bugs, performance issues, and production incidents as they arise Engage in peer code reviews, technical discussions, effort estimation, and the design of proposed solutions Coordinate with mobile developers, product team members, QA specialists, and other backend engineers to deliver fully functioning features Contribute to automated testing efforts, monitoring setups, logging practices, and overall application stability Apply AI-driven development tools where appropriate to increase productivity, strengthen code quality, and simplify testing and debugging processes Requirements Minimum of two years of hands-on experience applying Java and object-oriented programming principles Strong understanding of REST API design along with familiarity in established API development standards Prior experience developing or contributing to microservices and distributed system architectures Practical knowledge of MySQL, including SQL syntax, relational data structuring, and query performance tuning Understanding of fundamental design principles, common design patterns, and writing clean, easily maintained code Experience creating unit and integration tests, along with familiarity using modern testing tools Knowledge of essential security practices, including authentication, authorization, and secure API construction Familiarity with Git-based version control, CI/CD pipelines, and current software delivery practices Ability to troubleshoot production issues by analyzing logs, metrics, and other monitoring outputs Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills paired with a sense of accountability for delivered work Good interpersonal abilities and comfort collaborating within a distributed, cross-functional team Proficient English communication skills at B2 level or higher Nice to have Experience working with cloud infrastructure for deploying, scaling, and maintaining backend systems Familiarity leveraging AI-powered tools to assist with coding, testing, and troubleshooting tasks We offer International projects with top brands Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers Healthcare benefits Employee financial programs Paid time off and sick leave Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ courses Global career opportunities Volunteer and community involvement opportunities EPAM Employee Groups Award-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn EPAM is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
