Senior Data Engineer — Contract (Remote, Brazil) Santiago Consult is a UK-based data and AI consultancy. We build data platforms, pipelines and AI systems for ecommerce, marketplace and commerce businesses — and we're expanding our delivery capability in Brazil. We're building a network of senior contract data engineers we can bring onto client projects as they start. This is a talent pool ahead of upcoming engagements, so we're keen to talk to strong people now even if a project isn't live on day one. What the work looks like You'd be working directly with the founder on client delivery — designing and building production data pipelines, not maintaining someone else's legacy stack. Typical engagements involve: Building and optimising ETL/ELT pipelines end to end Data modelling and transformation in dbt Warehouse architecture in BigQuery or Snowflake Integrating APIs and operational systems (inventory, orders, catalogue) Data quality, testing and governance Working to a clear technical standard, with architecture and code review from our side What we're looking for Strong SQL. Not "I can write a join" — you can reason about performance, window functions and complex transformations Strong Python for data engineering Solid production experience with BigQuery or Snowflake (either is fine; both is a bonus) dbt in a real production environment Git and a proper branching/review workflow Experience building pipelines that handle genuine volume and complexity Comfortable working in English with UK-based clients Cloud platform experience — GCP or AWS Nice to have Ecommerce, marketplace, retail or logistics data experience Financial services or fintech pipeline experience Airflow or similar orchestration Terraform / infrastructure as code Streaming or real-time data Practical details Fully remote, contract basis (PJ) Project-based work, typically several weeks to several months Good overlap with UK hours (Brazil is 3–4 hours behind, so the working day lines up well) Paid in GBP or BRL, your preference How to apply Send your CV or LinkedIn profile, and please include:
