Senior Java Developer

We're currently seeking a Senior Java Developer to become a valued member of our engineering group. The person we're after possesses substantial, hands-on background in Java backend engineering, along with proficiency across Spring Boot, REST API development, microservices, and relational database technologies. We need someone capable of operating autonomously, rapidly absorbing knowledge of existing platforms, weighing in on technical direction, and partnering effectively with a multidisciplinary engineering unit. Responsibilities Architect, build, and support backend services developed with Java Craft and refine REST APIs that enable mobile app features and facilitate connections with third-party systems Handle MySQL responsibilities spanning data modeling, query construction, performance tuning, and issue diagnosis Play an active role in shaping and advancing backend and microservices architecture designed for scalability and long-term upkeep Deliver secure, dependable, and thoroughly validated code in line with recognized engineering standards Diagnose and remediate software defects, performance concerns, and problems occurring in production Contribute to peer code evaluations, technical dialogue, work estimation, and the development of solution approaches Work alongside mobile developers, product team members, QA professionals, and fellow backend engineers to deliver fully realized features Assist with automated test coverage, system observability, logging setups, and overall reliability of the application Employ AI-enabled development resources as appropriate to enhance efficiency, raise code quality, and streamline testing and issue resolution Requirements At least three years of direct, practical experience applying Java alongside object-oriented development concepts Solid comprehension of REST API architecture and recognized approaches to API construction Background architecting or contributing to microservices and systems distributed across multiple components Working familiarity with MySQL, SQL statements, relational data structuring, and optimizing query performance Grasp of foundational design concepts, frequently applied design patterns, and techniques for producing clean code Hands-on background writing unit and integration tests, along with knowledge of current testing tools Familiarity with core application security topics, covering authentication, authorization, and secure API design Comfort using Git-centered development processes, CI/CD automation, and contemporary delivery approaches Skilled at resolving production-level issues through analysis of logs, metrics, and other observability resources Strong capacity for analysis and problem resolution, along with willingness to see tasks through to completion Solid interpersonal and communication skills suited to working within a geographically dispersed, cross-disciplinary team Strong command of English at a B2 proficiency level or beyond Nice to have Background deploying, scaling, and managing backend applications within cloud-based environments Comfort applying AI-assisted development tools to support coding, testing, and troubleshooting activities We offer International projects with top brands Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers Healthcare benefits Employee financial programs Paid time off and sick leave Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ courses Global career opportunities Volunteer and community involvement opportunities EPAM Employee Groups Award-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn EPAM is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
