Cloud Native Application Development SME

We are looking for a hands-on Cloud Native Application Development SME to support delivery within the team. This position fits an experienced, self-directed software engineer capable of working with a high level of autonomy, owning outcomes, tackling ambiguous problems, and shipping working solutions with minimal daily oversight. Once goals and constraints are defined, you are expected to independently push work to completion, proactively handle risks, and communicate progress and trade-offs clearly. Responsibilities Own timelines and deliverables, proactively managing scope, dependencies, and execution risks Frame, design, and deliver software solutions independently by engaging stakeholders, clarifying vague requirements, and challenging assumptions Build backend services and RESTful APIs aligned with those designs Develop cloud-native applications (AWS preferred) Implement workflow automation and data pipelines as required Contribute across the entire software development lifecycle, including CI/CD Ensure solutions are production-ready, covering testing, documentation, and handover Act as a dependable execution partner, proactively sharing progress, trade-offs, risks, and shifts in expectations Requirements 5+ years of experience in software engineering with proven ownership and independent delivery without close supervision Background in consulting, advisory, or client-facing project and client relationship delivery Strong problem-solving skills, including the capability to frame and resolve issues in ambiguous situations Competency in communication and stakeholder management, including proactive expectation handling Showcase of Gen AI assisted development tools and practices as part of daily software delivery Proficiency in Python within enterprise environments Expertise in building REST APIs and backend services Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud-native application development Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and integration testing practices English proficiency at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher Nice to have Familiarity with workflow automation and orchestration tooling Understanding of continuous integration development and maintenance (e.g., GitHub Actions) Flexibility to use Terraform (infrastructure as code) Background in capital markets We offer International projects with top brands Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers Healthcare benefits Employee financial programs Paid time off and sick leave Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ courses Global career opportunities Volunteer and community involvement opportunities EPAM Employee Groups Award-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn EPAM is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
