Senior Backend Test Automation Engineer (Python)

We are seeking a Senior Backend Test Automation Engineer to strengthen quality, automation, and validation for a containerized edge-to-cloud platform running Python services on Linux devices. Responsibilities Design an automation strategy that covers the full device-to-cloud lifecycle across critical workflows Build automated test suites for unit, integration, system, end-to-end, resilience, security, and upgrade scenarios Validate containerized Python applications on Linux edge devices, including capture, processing, packaging, encryption, and upload flows Create synthetic datasets and fixtures to exercise malformed, partial, duplicated, out-of-order, and oversized file cases Verify data integrity controls, including metadata, checksums, encryption handling, and secure transfer behavior Automate authentication and provisioning scenarios, including identity registration, OAuth token flows, and failure conditions Test behavior under real-world constraints such as intermittent connectivity, timeouts, retries, resume, backoff, and replay Validate idempotency and effectively-once processing expectations across uploads and processing pipelines Assess observability via audit logging, structured logs, health checks, metrics, and alerting signals Integrate automated suites into CI/CD with coverage reporting, quality gates, and promotion checks Define testability requirements with engineers such as dependency injection, mockable interfaces, and deterministic boundaries Requirements 3+ years in QA/software test engineering with a strong test automation focus Proficiency in automated testing with Python (or equivalent) — fixtures, mocking, parametrized tests, integration harnesses, test isolation Background in testing containerized apps and Linux services — process lifecycle, config, logs, networking, resource constraints Experience testing REST APIs and distributed device-to-cloud systems — auth, retries, timeouts, failure recovery Expertise in validating file-processing/sync/upload/gateway workflows where integrity and resumability are critical Strong understanding of idempotency, replayability, ordering, eventual consistency, and exactly-once semantics Competency in testing OAuth2/JWT auth — token expiration, refresh, revocation, secure credential handling Skills in CI/CD and automated quality gates (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar) Knowledge of test coverage practices and enforcing meaningful thresholds Familiarity with Docker, as well as cloud services, device management, message brokers, object storage, or Kubernetes Practical experience with AI coding assistants (Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, or similar) Upper-Intermediate English (B2) proficiency for clear collaboration and documentation Nice to have Healthcare tech or regulated-industry experience (HIPAA or similar) Qualifications in testing edge computing, IoT, gateway, offline-first, or fleet-management platforms Familiarity with pytest, Docker Compose, Linux networking, TLS, AWS, Kafka, OAuth2, REST, device provisioning Security testing background — threat modeling, pen-test coordination, secrets management, TPM, secure boot, encrypted storage Experience validating monitoring, alerting, automated remediation, updates, rollback, and disaster recovery Capability to perform hardware-in-the-loop testing, power-loss/network emulation, bandwidth shaping, physical device labs Showcase of testing DICOM, medical imaging metadata, or clinical data-transfer workflows Experience with DABs or comparable multi-environment deployment automation, as well as Spec-Driven Development We offer International projects with top brands Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers Healthcare benefits Employee financial programs Paid time off and sick leave Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ courses Global career opportunities Volunteer and community involvement opportunities EPAM Employee Groups Award-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn EPAM is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
