SR Backend Developer Java, Language Tooling (Xtext/EMF)

At Zallpy, technology is created by curious, collaborative people who care about doing things well. If you enjoy environments where there is room to ask questions, test ideas, learn, and grow together, this opportunity is for you! At Zallpy, a diverse environment and an inclusive culture are part of who we are. We build a safe and respectful space where different perspectives are welcomed and everyone has the opportunity to grow, contribute, and belong. We support your development at every stage of your journey. Come grow with us. We are looking for someone to join a team that thinks big, works with attention to detail, values partnership in everyday work, and shares responsibility. We believe in autonomy, the exchange of different experiences, and building solutions together. Here, growing means sharing knowledge, respecting different ways of thinking, and building relationships based on trust while delivering high-quality technology. If this way of working resonates with you, come join us. What you will do: Design and evolve the grammar, metamodel, and semantics of a domain-specific language using Xtext and EMF. Build parsers, validators, scoping and linking rules, and code generators. Implement and maintain Language Server Protocol (LSP) features: completion, diagnostics, navigation, hover, and refactoring. Develop on top of the Eclipse Platform and its plugin architecture. Write modern Java (JDK 25) with Maven-based builds, automated tests, and continuous integration. Work with the web and IDE teams so the language works smoothly in VS Code and in the browser. Take part in technical decisions, code reviews, and the long-term architecture of the language tooling. What we are looking for: Solid, senior-level experience with Java, ideally with recent JDK versions. Experience with Maven. Proven experience building at least one of the following: a DSL, a parser, a compiler or transpiler, a code generator, or an IDE plugin. Advanced English for daily communication with an international client. Nice to have: Hands-on experience with Xtext and EMF. Experience with the Eclipse Platform: plugins, OSGi, or Eclipse RCP. Knowledge of the Language Server Protocol, ideally having implemented language features with it. Experience with Franca IDL or other interface definition languages (e.g., Protobuf, gRPC, OpenAPI, AIDL). Gradle. Go. Ecore, Sirius, Acceleo, or model-driven engineering (MDE). Work with ASTs, type systems, or static analysis. A personal or open-source language, compiler, or IDE plugin project. Automotive domain knowledge (e.g., SOME/IP, CommonAPI, vsomeip, AUTOSAR).
