Senior Optical Engineer

Location: Brazil, 100% remote, supporting U.S. networks on U.S. time zones Type: Full-time or contract Pay: Disclosed during interview As our Senior Optical Engineer, you will be part of the remote engineering team delivering Nokia 1830 DWDM projects for a Tier 1 U.S. carrier. You will plan and design node inserts, rearchitecture and bulk capacity adds, create the MOPs the projects run on, and lead maintenance windows remotely, guiding our U.S. field engineers and technicians on site. Responsibilities Plan and design node inserts, network rearchitecture and bulk capacity adds, including EPT planning files Create and validate MOPs for node installs, inserts, capacity adds and migrations Lead maintenance windows remotely and guide field engineers and technicians step by step Commission nodes and turn up line systems remotely, including power balancing Provision wavelength and OTN services, including alien wavelengths and 400ZR/ZR+ Review field test results (OTDR, power, fiber inspection) and approve before moving forward Troubleshoot optical layer issues: power, OSNR, pre-FEC errors, fiber and connector faults Coordinate with Nokia support and the customer's engineering teams Train and mentor Connect 5G engineers on the 1830 platform Required Qualifications 5+ years of recent, hands-on experience with Nokia 1830 PSS in carrier production networks Planning and design: node inserts, rearchitecture, bulk capacity adds, EPT Authoring MOPs and executing them under change control Remote commissioning, turn-up and service provisioning Directing field teams remotely during maintenance windows DWDM fundamentals: power budgets, OSNR, dispersion, EDFA/Raman CDC-F ROADM, WSS/MCS add/drop and coherent transponders OTN: ODU mapping, cross-connects, protection Nokia NSP, WaveSuite (WS-NOC) and/or NFM-T Fluent English for daily work with U.S. customers and field teams Available for night and weekend windows on U.S. time zones Based in Brazil, with a reliable home office and internet Nice to Have Experience with Nokia 1830 GX (formerly Infinera) or 1830 PSI-M Nokia optical certifications] Experience with other optical vendors (Ciena, Infinera) GMPLS/WSON control plane IP/MPLS background and scripting (Python, Ansible) Experience supporting U.S. Tier 1 carriers Opportunities in Our Team Build a new practice with direct visibility to leadership High-volume program with a Tier 1 U.S. carrier Work remotely from Brazil with a U.S. customer Job Types: Full-time, Contract Pay: From R$80.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week Work Location: Remote
